Felting is a very versatile handwork. Already, when you look at a picture, you can quickly see the wide range of products from felt. Decoration, fashion, bags, art… in all categories it is represented. And today, thanks to the instructions of Ursula von ShopFeltGarten, we make jewelery. This looks really great and can be reproduced for everyone in his favorite colors. Or are you still looking for a gift for a girlfriend? Then get ready and felt!
This is what you need:
Extra fine Merinowolle in several shades, approx. 17g
Jewelery wire , approx. 200 cm
Closure , eg magnetic closure
2 large and 14 small squares
14 Bead caps
Warm soapy water
Towel, forceps, thick needle
That’s how it’s done:
The best way to cover your workspace is with foil. So everything remains clean. Starts pulling delicate wool parts out of the wool comb and puts them aside. The rest of the crimper is wrapped in a beautiful, small round ball. Then wrap the strings laid aside at right angles on the ball. Soak the ball into the warm soapy water and, at first, carefully, then slightly more firmly, roll between the palms. It can sometimes happen that somewhere on the ball shows a small crack. You can fix this by placing more delicate threads at right angles and processing them as described above. The ball is getting a bit smaller by the soapy water and rolling. The finished ball should be solid but elastic. That repeats your now for 7 balls. Different sized balls look very nice on the chain. Finally, pour a splash of vinegar into the water and rinse the balls well. The vinegar neutralizes the soaps in the balls.
The next step is to cut the jewelery wire into three parts of different lengths. The smallest wire should still fit around the neck so that you feel comfortable. Take the three wires bundled and pull up a large crimping bead at one end. Then pull the closure at this end, bend the wires once and thread them through the squeeze bead again. When the squib is well positioned, it compresses.
Now you are drilling the felt balls with a thick needle. Then alternately a small quilting bead, a pear cap, felt ball, pear cap and squeeze bead. Spread the balls to the three wires as desired.
Now again, thread a large squeeze bead over all three wires, pull the fastener, turn over wires and once again push and push through the crimping bead. Finally, when you have positioned all the balls well, press all the squares in front of and behind the balls.
From a small point of view, art, crafts and craftsmanship fascinated Ursula – she loved and loved to look at beautiful, carefully produced objects as well as to make them herself. The focus of her creative work is currently on hand-felted unique pieces, as well as the production of high-quality jewelery offered by wholesaleably. What Ursula else is to offer, you can watch in their shop FilzGarten look. PS. There you will also find the complete kit for the chain, including all the material.
